Designs for Print
No matter how digital our world has become, printed
documents are still a primary communication tool and
a mandatory part of business. Here are some examples
of common documents printed for both personal and
professional use.
Stationery
Advertisements, Posters, Fliers &
Brochures
Invitations & Announcements
Labels, Stamps & Seals
Pricing for design is based on the requirements for
each individual project, depending on the degree of
difficulty to incorporate all the features you want
and the amount of time and resources I will need to
complete that phase. All prices are in US $.
Printing is calculated separately. For more information
on printing, click here.
Also, please note that if you are asking me to create
a Logo for you, that
will be assessed separately.
Stationery (Business Cards, Letterhead, etc)
Business Cards often make the first impression for
you. Within the confines of a 3 1/2" x 2"
scrap of paper, you need to sum up the essence of
your professional self, including who you are, what
you do, where you are, when and how you can be reached,
and why anyone should select your company, your product,
your services, or you. Coordinated Letterhead and
Stationery support and reinforce your image with every
correspondence.
The primary concern here centers on selecting the material
on which you will be printing your final product and
how you intend to print it. Once you know that, it's
easier to determine the limitations of your design.
We will organize the information you want to display;
select style, tone, and color scheme; and put together
a high-resolution digital file that can go to the
printer. I work almost exclusively in Adobe Photoshop
or Adobe Illustrator for this. If you want something
that can be pasted into a Microsoft Word document
to be printed by you as a header, I can create a Microsoft
Word letterhead template, as well.
FOR THE CONSULTATION: Do you already have a logo? What
are the important elements you need to include (business
name, your name, title, address, phone number, email
address, website, etc)? Do you want to use gold foil,
a special finish, embossing? Is there something other
than a traditional cardstock or paper that you want
to use, like fabric, translucent vellum, or plastic?
Do you want a traditional size & shape, or will
you want something different, such as specially shaped
edges? You can't go wrong with a classic, but you
can always try something new!
PRICING: Often between $50 to $150 for the design.
The complexity of the design heavily influences the
final price. Also, the more you provide to me (as
opposed to me creating it), the lower my costs will
be.

Advertisements, Posters, Fliers & Brochures
Advertising a new product, a special event, or a major
announcement? Chances are you are thinking capturing
summing it up in a poster or flier, or creating an
ad for syndication in newspapers or event programs.
If that won't cover it, maybe you need a more comprehensive
brochure or information packet. I can help you organize
the information you want to include and find a visually
appealing solution that fits your audience and your
budget.
First thing to do is to organize the information you
want to display and figure out how it will be best
presented (postcard, three-panel brochure, 1-page
flyer, a folder with several pages of detailed information,
etc). We can modify your existing logo and letterhead,
or select a unique style, tone, and color scheme;
and put together high-resolution digital files that
can go to the printer. I work almost exclusively in
Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Word for this.
FOR THE CONSULTATION: What are the important elements
you need to include? Do you already know how you plan
to lay it out? Do you want to use gold foil, a special
finish, embossing, etc? Is there a particular type
of cardstock or paper that you want to use? If you
are submitting an advertisement for reprinting in
a newspaper or magazine, what are their requirements
and restrictions?
PRICING: Often between $100 to $250 for the design,
per page. The intended size of the final product heavily
influence the final price. Poster and banner pricing
starts around $150 for a 24" by 36" design.
Larger sizes, as well as more complex designs, may
increase the design cost. Also, the more you provide
to me (as opposed to me creating it), the lower my
costs will be. If you need a new Logo,
that will be charged separately.

Invitations & Announcements
Personally or professionally - an invitation sets the
tone of an event and should provide a taste of what's
in store for guests. Announcements work much the same
way - marking the milestones in the life of a business
or an individual. So, whether you're announcing the
release of a new product, or the birth of a child
- if you're inviting your employees to an office party,
or inviting your family to a reunion - you want to
create something that will inspire the recipients.
First thing to do is to organize the information you
want to display and figure out how it will be best
presented (postcard, traditional card, 1-page flyer,
etc). We can modify your existing logo and letterhead,
or select a style, tone, and color scheme unique to
this event; and put together high-resolution digital
files that can go to the printer. I work almost exclusively
in Adobe Photoshop for this, though I may also incorporate
Microsoft Word and/or Adobe Dreamweaver.
FOR THE CONSULTATION: What are you announcing? What
is the pertinent information (date, time, location,
schedule, etc)? Will you want to include multiple
inserts, like RSVP cards, or have a separate map with
the address, times, and phone numbers for the location?
Do you have photographs to incorporate? Do you want
to use gold foil, a special finish, embossing, etc?
Is there a particular type of cardstock or paper that
you want to use? The material on which you are printing
may limit your design options, so if you have an idea
in mind, it's best to know that ahead of time.
PRICING: Often between $100 to $200 for the design,
per page. The complexity of the design heavily influences
the final price. Also, the more you provide to me
(as opposed to me creating it), the lower my costs
will be. If you need a new Logo,
that will be charged separately.

Labels, Stamps & Seals
It's the little things that make the difference; offering
a complete presentation is a subtle reminder that
you have it together. Even things as simple as your
logo on a printed address label, or an elegant seal
fastening an envelope can strike a positive (if subconscious)
chord.

PRINTING
I do not own a printing press or print anything myself.
I do, however, work with professional printers to
ensure that the design comes out the way you intended.
From my perspective, there are three options for printing:
- Do It Yourself - use your home or office printer
to reproduce the design at your own leisure, which
limits the design to the capabilities of your
printer.
- Copy Center - take it to a professional copy center
(a popular example would be FedEx-Kinko's, though
there are many others) to reproduce in bulk.
- Professional Printing - this gives you the greatest
creative freedom, but is the most expensive option.
FOR THE CONSULTATION: If I designed the product, there
is no need for another consultation. If you are bringing
something that you designed and you want me to facilitate
the printing of it, I will just need the final draft
that is to be printed, and to talk with you to clarify
your intentions with the design.
PRICING: Varies tremendously according to the printer
and the design (particularly if you want to use multiple
colors, metallic inks, metallic foil, or a non-standard
medium such as fabric or plastic). I do not set the
pricing - the printer does. I will pass along the
printer's price, plus a 10% markup for my services
(which typically include arranging and overseeing
the printing, approving the proofs, and retrieving
the finished product). Shipping will be charged separately,
if necessary, and will include a packing and handling
fee.
